How you can do YOUR Part!

The effects of climate change and global warming, and taking care of our one-and-only Earth have been global topics of interest for decades! And, yet, it seems these problems remain with seemingly little progress towards a resolution we can all get behind. But - we know the challenges and we know what can be done to make things better. We don't need to wait for someone to tell us about the BIG solution to start doing our part, day by day - to make a difference.

What We are Doing
We are taking a multi-pronged approach to maintaining our commitment to help care for our Earth.

Packaging
We are excited to share the news that we have begun using packaging for our tube products made from sugarcane whenever it's available. Because single-use plastic is produced from fossil fuels, the process of extracting and creating these conventional plastics emits huge amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. In turn, those greenhouse gases block radiation from leaving the earth's atmosphere, trapping the radiation from the sun and warming the planet's surface more than it would occur naturally. Actually, plastic results in greenhouse gas emissions at every stage of its lifecycle. The ethanol used to produce Green Polyethylene (that we are now using!) is derived from sugarcane ethanol - how innovative! Compared to using Plastic, this greatly reduces harmful greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere. Green Polyethylene is renewable, recyclable, sustainable, and CO2 negative (less greenhouse gases released).

For any products where we cannot use sugar cane packaging yet, we will turn to packaging using PCR (Post-Consumer Resin - made from used, recycled, and repurposed plastic), which is the best other option available to us. No new fossil resources are required to produce PCR plastics - essentially the material is made of waste. In this way, its production contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions relative to standard plastic.

In other words, Bounce Curl is taking the innovative step of utilizing responsible packaging BEFORE it gets into the consumer's hands. There is still more work to be done here, if we find better packaging, we will utilize it.

Recycling
Every product container in the Bounce Curl line is recyclable. Simply check the back of the bottle, jar, etc., and you will see the "recycle" icon. No need to remove labeling; Bounce Curl products print directly on the bottle/jar. Lids and pumps are not recyclable at this time. Simply rinse out the container and place in with your other plastic recyclables.

HOW TO RECYCLE:

Step1: Use every last drop of product!

Step 2: Rinse Containers!

Step 3: Place in local recycle bin!

The formalized concept of recycling seemed like it was developed with the environmental movement of the 1960s and 1970s. Economic depressions made recycling a necessity for many people to survive, as they couldn't afford new goods. The mass production of the industrial age actually caused the need for large scale recycling; when products can be produced (and purchased) very cheaply, it can make more economic sense to simply throw away old items and purchase brand new ones. However, this culture of "disposable" goods created a number of environmental problems which are causing some of the global problems we face today.

Did you know there is an organization, Product Beauty Share®, that will take new and barely used products and give them to women in need? You can mail your donations directly to their warehouse at 2718 E. Sprague Ave., Spokane WA 99202. They do not pay shipping costs and suggest using USPS flat rate boxes.
